How to Dose with Shrooms

The trick to a good trip is to know your dose. What are you in the mood for?

• 0.2 to 0.5 grams – This is the perfect amount for a microdose. Psychonauts who take a half gram or less every few days don’t feel the trippier effects of psilocybin (the molecule responsible for your trip), but this small, regular amount can make you feel more creative and care-free.

• 0.8 to 1.5 grams – These are the bunny slopes—ideal for a budding psychonaut or an experienced connoisseur who wants a mellow trip. At the low end, you’re likely to experience a high similar to marijuana, while at the upper portion of this range you’ll begin to notice auditory and visual hallucinations.

• 1.5 to 3 grams – Get ready for a real trip now. At this level, you’re likely to experience waves of euphoria and vivid hallucinations. If you want a classic psychedelic experience, this is a good amount to let you experience fractals and other sensory enhancements without going overboard. Keep in mind that you may not register time normally at this phase.

• 3+ grams – This amount is best left to experienced users. Expect to lose touch with reality, which can sometimes be scary but often leads to profound insight.
